Getting started

As I sit here, looking out my sewing room window, watching the squirrels scurry around in the leaves, in the rain–I wonder what I’m doing… I’m more comfortable sewing than ‘talking’.

I love to sew, I’ve been sewing for forever. I used to do mostly clothing when my kids were small, but now it’s mostly quilting. I grew up with a mom who sewed everything, and saved all scraps for quilts. Now it’s mostly fabric bought specifically for a quilt that I sew with. I sew some things for gifts, and even a few for myself. And I have enough patterns and blocks I want to make, that I’ll need to live at least another couple hundred years to get it all done!

Today I’m working on a tablerunner. It’s a free pattern, and poorly written–some of the cutting instructions aren’t there. So I’m making my notes as I go, so that more complete instructions are there if I ever want to make it again.

And I better get back to it!

Cala, I’d say yes if I could, but he’s no longer with us. He passed away over 6 years ago, so anything I have that he made is very precious. There’s alot of stuff he made that will live on for many years–when he made something, he made it to last for a long time!
